This week...

This week has been very interesting!  Mrs Howie came to talk to the class about Australia.  She has family there and knew lots about the animals and what it is like to live there.  We all learned so many amazing facts and will be putting them into posters next week.

We also completed an interesting 'Thunk'.  It was 'Should you be made to be polite?' This ignited some very interesting discussion.  I am always so impressed with how mature the children are when we do a 'Thunk' and how respectful we are of each others opinions.
Have a look below at our responses.  Feel free to add your own response in the comments section.

Have a lovely Bank Holiday Weekend Everyone!

New Novel Announced!

Our new novel has been announced!

This term we are focusing on Matilda by Roald Dahl.  This is going to be the focus for our Term 3 topic as well.  We have already been laughing at some of the things Matilda has been getting up to, but it is also making us this about how she is treated and how we should be spoken to and speak to each other.
We can't wait to share our work with you as we get our teeth into the book!

Term 2

We have been very bust this term since our school trip.  We loved Book Week which included going to Waterstones, the local library and decorating our class door to show off our class novel.  This term our novel was the Fantastic Mr Fox.

Today we enjoyed a visit from the YMCA.  We got to play some of our favourite games outside, including Octopus and Confusion tig!

We are currently rehearsing our Christmas Concert song, Jingle Bell Rock and we can't wait to perform it to you all with Rooms 9&10.  We are very excited about Santa coming soon and how quickly it is approaching.

Scotland Street Museum

We had an amazing day at Scotland Street Museum.  We got to explore the exhibitions and see what life was like in Glasgow a long time ago!

We also caught taught from a teacher as if we were in the past. It was scary, especially when Mrs Lang almost got the belt! We got to live in the last too and do chores such as polishing ornaments, beating the carpet, making the bed and washing the dishes!

We also got taught a bit of P.E which was called Drills.

Have a look at the fun we had below...

Crazy Cats!

This year for an Art competition, Room 8 were given the genre of ‘Cats’.  So we decided to make them Crazy Cats!

Miss Craig can only pick 4 winners to be entered into the competition...what a tough choice as the class have done an amazing job!

Head over to your child’s SeeSaw to see them with their mask.

Maths Week!

Room 8 really loved Maths Week as we got to explore pattern and improve our mental maths skills.
We enjoyed thinking of shape Patterns to create our own individual Paisley Patterns.  Well done Ryan Speirs for winning Paisley Pattern competition from our class!

We have been getting really good at our spider numbers, this is where we put a number on the board and think as many ways to make that number.  If you didn't spot our display at Open Doors then take a look at the picture below.

Lastly we had a challenge task.  We got given a sheet of circles and we had to colour them in. However we could only use 4 colours and the colours were not allowed to touch! It was harder than it looked!  Have a look at some of them below.
